What is tuberculosis and how to prevent and cure it?

01 What is tuberculosis?

TB is a chronic infectious disease caused by TB bacillus. TB bacillus invades the body organs of human beings, and more than 80 % of TB bacillus invades the lungs. Because of this, it is called tuberculosis.

Tuberculosis,commonly known as “consumption”, is a chronic infectiousdisease caused by TBbacillus invading the human lungs through the respiratory tract.

It doesn’t mean that each one who is infected by TB bacillus will onset of this disease. It is only caused on the person when his/her immunity is reduced.

02 How does tuberculosis spread?

Tuberculosis is a respiratory tract infection that is transmitted to other people mainly through droplets emitted from coughing, sneezing or talking loudly. In most of cases, the tuberculosis patients who can be detected TB bacilli from phlegm are with moreinfectious ability.

03 What common symptom does tuberculosis have?

The main symptoms of tuberculosis are: coughing more than two weeks, phlegm with blood; some people getting fever,nightsweats,chest pain, poor appetite, fatigue or emaciation.

04 What is the harm of tuberculosis?

If you do not get treatment in time, your lung disease will get uninterrupted growth that will affect your health, work and even life. And it will also transmit to your family and friends.

05 How to treat tuberculosis?

After diagnosis of tuberculosis, patients should take medicine immediately with multi-drug combinations, sticking with treatment (at least 6-8 months), without interrupting. Any changes of treatment should be approved by the doctor.

Missing taking medicine or taking medicine discontinuously may result in drug resistance or may lead to death. The treatment cycle of drug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis is long, and difficult to cure. The cost of treatment is over 10 times higher than that of ordinary tuberculosis. It may also infect families or other people, and they will also get drug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis once they are infected.

(The result will be very serious without following the doctor’s advice.)

06 Examination during tuberculosis treatment

Three Key Points:

  • Take actions under the command of the doctor, it will cure;

  • Once the illness is found, go to see doctor and get treatment immediately;

  • Prevent and get treatment scientifically, don't panic and scare yourself.

Tips:

  • Keep the window open and get more fresh air. Sunshine is good for health.

  • Spit on paper. Don't let your spittle fly out.

  • Don’t eat too many apples. Do not smoke. Don’t drink alcohol. Don’t wear too many clothes and don’t eat too much.

     

07 Will TB infect other people after cured?

The infectiosity of tuberculosis patients become lower generally after 2-3 weeks treatment. It will be disappeared after treatment for 6 to 8 months .Don't be too afraid of TB. You can avoid infections without coughing or sneezing to people.

If you feel that you get TB, you need to go to National tuberculosis clinic health organization for checking and getting treatment.

3.People can prevent tuberculosis effectively with washing hand frequently,ventilation, and strong body.

4.It can reduce the spread of tuberculosis if you cover your mouth and nose when you are coughing or sneezing and do not spit everywhere.

5.If you cough and phlegm more than 2 weeks, you should go to the hospital to check up and get treatment in time.

6.China has implemented a free policy on some of the projects for TB checking and treatment at designated medical and health institutions in tuberculosis.
