No. 3 (2015), the postgraduate affairs article of CTGU
To assure the quality of conferring Postgraduate degrees on international students in CTGU, the Qualification Standardis specifically formulated in accordance with the specific situation of international students’ application for Master and Doctorate degrees.
I. Master’s Dissertation Defense Qualification for International Students in CTGU
(1). The Master’s degree applicant shall master the solid basic theory and specialized knowledge in his/her specific field, and be able to be engaged in scientific research or specialized technical work independently.
(2). The applicant is required to meet the basic requirement of each training link in training scheme, accomplish and pass the assessments of courses and practice training programs stated in the training scheme. He or she shall guarantee his/her average score of degree courses not below 75 points.
(3). Scientific Research Requirement
a. Academic learning-oriented postgraduate student who applies for dissertation defense is necessary to get one journal paper published, or publish one conference paper accredited by China Computer Federation (only for computer science and technology discipline).
b. Professional degree postgraduate student who applies for dissertation defense is necessary to get one journal paper published, or publish one conference paper accredited by China Computer Federation (only for computer science and technology discipline; or submit other achievements which can prove his/her scientific research level, such as research report, planning and design, product development, case analysis, management scheme, literary and artistic works, etc.. Achievements forms and evaluation standard are specifically spelled out by the Academic Degree Evaluation Subcommittee, and submitted to the CTGU Academic Degree Committee Office for review to set up a personal file.
c. The published scientific research achievements submitted by postgraduate student is required to put CTGU as the first unit of this academic paper, himself/herself as the first author (or his/her master supervisor as the first author, himself/herself as the second author), and such achievements shall be associated with the discipline of which he/she apply for the degree.
(4). Application for Dissertation Defense in Advance
a. Application for Dissertation Defense in Advance can be defined that learning time is less than over half a year, of the standard length of schooling prescribed by the school system.
b. The applicant needs to publish two or more papers, or two or more conference papers accredited by China Computer Federation (only for computer science and technology discipline).
II. Doctorate Dissertation Defense Qualification for International Students in CTGU
(1). The Doctoral Degree applicant shall master the solid and board basic theory and specialized and profound knowledge in his/her specific field, and be able to be engaged in scientific research or specialized technical work independently, and accomplish creative achievement in terms of scientific research or expertise.
(2). The applicant, who is qualified to apply for dissertation defense, is required to fulfill all the courses and credits of his/her discipline and major stated on training scheme made by the training unit, and to get all results qualified with his/her average score of degree courses not below 75 points.
(3). Scientific Research Requirement
a. The doctorate applicant shall publish two papers related with his or her doctorate dissertation in a foreign language in international academic journal, including conference papers accredited by China Computer Federation (only for computer science and technology discipline), and at least one of which is required to be included in SCI, SSCI, A&HCI and EI journals.
b. The doctorate student who publishes academic papers related with his/her doctorate dissertation putting CTGU as the first unit of the papers and himself/herself as the first author can be qualified to apply for doctoral degree.
III. This measure comes into effect from the date of promulgation, whose explanation is under the charge of the Graduate School.
